OUR BUSINESS

ICECAP’s principal business activities are buying and selling Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs), Emissions Reductions Units (ERUs) and Verified Emissions Reductions (VERs).

ICECAP is an active buyer in the international carbon markets with a track record which few other companies can match. ICECAP has purchased CERs and other carbon instruments from more than 50 projects around the world spread across a wide range of countries, industrial sectors and abatement technologies.

ICECAP also has an active carbon trading business. With the benefit of investment grade credit rated support arrangements, we have entered into numerous forward sales, options and commodity swap contracts with large industrial emitters, banks and financial institutions and hedge funds.

ICECAP is the exclusive advisor to the ICECAP Carbon Portfolio, one of the world’s first private sector carbon aggregators. This closed on 31 March 2006 with aggregate commitments to source and manage a portfolio of 15 million tonnes of carbon credits. The participants are Enel Trade SpA, the principal trading subsidiary of Enel SpA, the leading Italian utility, Public Power Corporation S.A of Greece, and the Marubeni Corporation of Japan. The portfolio of contracted projects is currently being monitored and managed to ensure optimum deliveries.

ICECAP is also active in the VER and Post-2012 markets and has recently announced a new initiative in biofuels.
